Basilisk • Bugged Google tab-search

Test1: enter a search term in the search field of the menu-bar; hit enter = Google search works fine
Test2: ditto, but in the search-bar of a new tab or new window = nothing happens

Go to magnifying-glass next to search, select a different search-engine (Bing, etc) = works fine.
switch back to Google, fails again.
Go to Change Search Settings, remove existing Google, then re-add. Still fails.

This is has been going on for two or three months across several versions, Mac and PC.

Attempts to duplicate in other Firefox-fork browsers:
-- Firefox 119 ESR: (typing in tab-search triggers a drop-menu from menubar-search; works)
-- Firefox (latest as of post): Ditto
-- Palemoon 33.5: (tab-search locked to DuckDuckGo regardless of set preference; unable to test Google)
-- Waterfox G6.0.20: Google tab search works fine
-- Waterfox Classic: Google tab search works fine (both of these Waterfoxes are non-current)
-- Orion 0.99.130 (Mac): (doesn't have a search field in new tabs)
-- Waterfox (latest as of post): (no longer has a search field in new tabs)

Regrettably I do not have a mid-summer version of Basilisk around to test.

Yeah, I know Google search is a pale shadow of what it was ten years ago, but it's still the best and really only option for complex Boolean searches.
